Friday Night Videos
John Fogerty's video for "The Old Man Down The Road" ran incessantly on the non-MTV video shows I had access to back in the day. Which means I grew to hate it. Oversaturation kills, you know? At the time, I didn't realize what a big deal Fogerty's return to recording was. The song is a perfect update to his swamp rock sound from Creedence, and I've come full circle on the video, which I originally thought clever, then thought cheap after I got sick of it, and now think clever again. Carry on.

Friday Night Videos
The legendary John Fogerty is back with with new music. The sound of "Weeping in the Promised Land" isn't what one would expect from him, but I think is apropos of our times.

Friday Night Videos
You just can't go wrong with John Fogerty. "The Old Man Down the Road" was the first song that introduced me to him, believe it or not. Oh, I'd been vaguely aware of CCR classics such as "Proud Mary" and others, but never connected the dots that they were produced by the same band, or specifically, the same singer/songwriter. Fogerty's return to rock and the subsequent controversy over "Zanz Kan't Danz" brought me up to speed in a hurry (I was big into Rolling Stone in those days). The video's quite memorable in its own way, with a quirky sense of humor and suitably atmospheric for Fogerty's "swamp rock" motif. Enjoy.

Friday Night Videos
After a summer of blistering drought, we've had more than 5 inches of rain in the past 48 hours with more on the way for the weekend. There's been localized flooding in the area and low-water crossing road closures, but thus far it's been a good, soaking rain lacking any of the hard, driving downpours that lead to lots of runoff. So I'm not going to complain, not with the Edward's Aquifer getting a much-needed recharge and the Blanco River finally flowing again after months of dry river bed. Instead, I'm celebrating. Here's John Fogerty revisiting his old CCR classic, "Have You Ever Seen the Rain." Weather depending, I may be back next week with him performing "Who'll Stop the Rain," because Texas weather sometimes demands such things.

Friday Night Videos
Sometimes you just need a little Fogerty. "Rock & Roll Girls" fits the bill.
