131/365: Yellow Rose

Made a quick visit to the San Marcos airport today to get a few shots of some of the World War II era warbirds they maintain and fly there. The Commemorative Air Force (formerly known as the Confederate Air Force) does a great thing, preserving these pieces of history. This B-25 is even available for the general public to buy flights on, although it'll set you back nearly $400 to experience that bit of history up close.

  1. Great shot! I love these old warbirds. The first I ever saw up close was a B-25 operated by the (then) Confederate AF called the Pacific Princess. It may have been this same plane here -- I know they sometimes get repainted to honor different original wartime liveries. A couple years ago, my dad and I bit the bullet and bought a ride on a B-24 operated by the Collings Foundation; worth every penny, believe me!

  2. Growing up as a kid, I see Confederate Air Force planes fly by overhead on their way to some show or other on occasion. That always impressed me. I, too, would love to go up in one, but that price tag is a little steep for a joyride. Were I to ever do so, I think I'd take a ride on that B-17 stationed in Galveston.
